House Remodel – Finished at last!

I produced a video to show the before and after of our house remodel from photos and videos taking during the process.

When we bought this house we did so knowing that we needed to do some fairly major upgrades. To start we installed patio doors to the swimming pool area, built a garage (my workshop) then completely gutted and refitted the main bathroom.

Then the biggy started – the kitchen!

This not only meant fitting upgraded kitchen units but also extending the kitchen by knocking down a wall into what was a passageway, making it open plan and much larger. Strangely, this house is a one of number in the immediate area which was designed with two front doors so we decided to get rid of one and use that space for for more units. We also had a shower room which accessed from the passageway so we re-jigged the bedrooms a bit so we could refurbish it and make it an en-suite to the main bedroom.

Thank goodness it is finished as I have lots of other things I want to get on with and summer is here now too!

Hi there, I’ve got to put a kitchen in our house. It’s 10 years old, never been lived in. All the plumbing and electric points are built into the walls. My question is where did you get your kitchen units from?

I know Ikea do them and a place near to them do do, but have a long lead time on them.

We bought our kitchen unit carcasses from Altagracia near Ikea and the doors from Lanzafuerte in Puerto del Rosario. You have to generally double the timescales they give you as they seem to tell you what you want to hear to get the order. There is nowhere I am aware of where you can buy off the shelf.

    Hi,
What is the average price for renovating a kitchen and bathroom?
We are looking at buying an apartment but in our pricerange the bathrooms and kitchens are kinda old and outdated.

That’s hard to say. Most apartments won’t have a large kitchen so it shouldn’t be too expensive. You can buy a reasonably priced kitchen from Ikea and then get someone to fit it.
