Fuerteventura is a very naturist-friendly island. Although there are no designated naturist beaches in Fuerteventura, you will find naturists on almost every beach provided that is not in the built-up area of a resort or town.
The law in Spain (and therefore in Fuerteventura) allows for public nudity in any “natural” place. Most beaches in Fuerteventura fit that description perfectly, as they are some of the loveliest natural beaches in Europe, so they are clothing-optional.
Most of the beaches in Fuerteventura are used by naturists, at least in part. Naturists and non-naturists generally co-exist quite happily. The town beaches aren’t naturist, particularly those in Caleta de Fuste, but most are at least naturist-friendly.
I must admit, though, that many of the beaches are not as naturist as they were when I first came to Fuerteventura 37+ years ago. Even the beaches by the road in the dunes of Corralejo were predominately nude back then, but nowadays, it is rare to see anyone nude there. It is a shame as it shows how things become less relaxed once mass tourism hits.

Fuerteventura Nude Beach Guide
If seeing nude people on the beach will “offend” you, then don’t go to these beaches. Don’t go to them to be deliberately outraged. Believe it or not, people do that.
I remember going to a long beach in Dorset with a naturist section, with signs on either side defining the area. It made me laugh to see that the two areas immediately outside the naturist section were the most crowded parts of that entire beach!
My advice is: If you haven’t tried it, don’t knock it. Perhaps your holiday in Fuerteventura is the ideal time to give it a go.
I think naturists are very accepting people. For example, if a large woman wore a skimpy bikini on a clothed (textile) beach, lots of people would look and think, “Look at her. How can she wear something like that?” whereas on a naturist beach, if the same woman were nude, no one would take any notice.
Even on the town beaches and the mainly family beaches, as well as around the pools in most hotel and apartment complexes, women are often topless.
Fuerteventura naturist beach map
This Fuerteventura naturist map shows where you will find the main Fuerteventura nude beaches.
The Main Naturist Beaches of Fuerteventura
Many people from all over northern Europe choose to take naturist holidays in Fuerteventura, and with so many nudist beaches in Fuerteventura to explore it is no wonder.
The most popular nude beaches Fuerteventura has are:
- The main dune beach area of Corralejo
- The lagoon beaches of El Cotillo
- Steps beach outside El Cotillo
- Tindaya Beach
- Much of Sotavento/Jandia beaches in the south – only 10 miles of beaches!
- Cofete beach
Corralejo Dunes Beaches
These are also known as the Corralejo Grandes Playas (big beaches). They are located immediately south of Corralejo and run for miles along the coast.
Although there may be naturists all along the beach, naturism mostly starts just south of the Oliva Beach Hotel and stretches through the dunes down to the beaches next to the road at the southern end.
You will find many places to lie among the dunes and in stone circles near the sea people have made. These can be found on beaches throughout the island.
You could also go for a long nude walk inland through the dunes. The sand dunes stretch for almost 2 miles inland, and for most of it, you are likely to be totally on your own. If you go for a long walk, take water with you, as it can be hard going and dehydrating.
See the available naturist accommodation options in Corralejo towards the end of the article.
El Cotillo Naturist Beaches
El Cotillo Lagoons
These start at the northern edge of the village of El Cotillo. The first few are generally not naturist but are sometimes. The next beach along is Playa de la Concha (also known as Playa Chica), and this beach is generally a mixture of textiles and naturists. When the right-hand side is busy, the beach’s northern side tends to be the popular naturist area.
Sometimes, the beach is well populated with naturists, and at other times it isn’t. My theory is that if the first few people on the beach are clothed, those who arrive afterward follow suit. If the first are naturists, then more people go naked. No one wants to be outnumbered!
From then on until the lighthouse and beyond, you can find many little beaches and stone circles to practice naturism. They must be the most unique Fuerteventura nudist beaches.
The only time this whole area is less naturist is during the Spanish holidays in August when Spanish families spend lots of time on the beach.
Piedra Playa
This is also known as the Surfer’s Beach as it is very popular with water sports enthusiasts. Ten years ago, it was 50/50 clothed/naturist, but, sadly, these days, naturists tend to be only at the far end (south) of the beach.
Steps Beach (Playa del Aguila)
This is my favorite beach in the El Cotillo area and probably one of the best nudist beaches Fuerteventura offers.
Steps Beach is accessed down a few flights of recently renovated Heath Robinson-type stairs, but it is well worth the effort. It is never crowded and attracts plenty of naturists, particularly away from the steps in either direction.
Full details of the El Cotillo beaches, including maps, video and photos can be found on my El Cotillo site – El Cotillo Beaches.
The Jandia Peninsular Beaches
The most popular naturist beaches in Fuerteventura to the south of the island are Playa de Sotavento, Playa Esquinzo, Playa Barca, Mal Nombre and Playa de Butihondo.
The biggest resort in the area is Costa Calma, which has many luxury hotels fronting the beach.
You can reach the beaches at various places from the main road to the south by taking one of the many smaller roads off of it. Most of them finish at a small car park by the beach.
There are miles of beautiful white sandy beaches and a lovely warm turquoise sea. Finding a quiet spot to spend the day lying on the sand is not a problem.
It is possible to walk nude for miles along this Fuerteventura nude beach.
Other Fuerteventura Naturist Beaches
Cofete
Cofete has 14 miles of unspoiled, usually deserted, sandy beach where you can be nude all day. It would probably be an excellent place to try naturism for the first time, away from others, to gently break you in. Although it is one of the most remote nudist beaches Fuerteventura possesses, it has its benefits.
It requires a 20km drive along a fairly bumpy track from Morro Jable, but it is worth the drive. This track has recently been improved, so it should be less bumpy now. There is one small cafe/bar in the small village of Cofete.
Tindaya Beach
Tindaya Beach is on the west coast towards the north of the island. It is never crowded as it isn’t the easiest beach to find. I have been on this secluded Fuerteventura nudist beach without another person in sight. The video below will show you how to get there.
La Pared
This is a small place on the southwest coast of Fuerteventura. It has a lovely long beach that is popular with surfers and kiteboarders. Towards the southern end of the beach, plenty of naturists can be found.
Resorts to avoid if you are a naturist
Caleta de Fuste
This is one of the most popular areas with British tourists on the island but it is completely devoid of naturist beaches.
There are two “beaches” in Caleta de Fuste. Both are man-made and neither are naturist (although they are at least topless).
If you are a naturist and want to stay there because of the facilities for eating/drinking etc. then you will need a hire car to travel to the naturist beaches Fuerteventura offers (see hiring a car in Fuerteventura). You will either need to drive north to the dune beaches of Corralejo or the lagoons of El Cotillo or south to the beaches of Jandia.
Costa Antigua (aka Nuevo Horizonte)
This is just north of Caleta de Fuste and has no beaches for anyone to use, let alone naturists.
Best Fuerteventura Naturist Accommodation or Close to Naturist Beaches
If you are coming to spend time on the naturist beaches in Fuerteventura, you will need somewhere to stay.
Perhaps surprisingly, for such a naturist-friendly island, there is very little dedicated naturist accommodation or Fuerteventura hotels with naturist facilities.
But there are a few good places to stay close to the island’s main nudist beaches.
Obviously, there are villas and apartments all over Fuerteventura with private areas where nude sunbathing can occur, but few are advertised as naturist villas.
BHH Naturist Resort Fuerteventura, Costa Calma
As Fuerteventura naturist accommodation goes this mustbe one of the nicest.
There are three apartments in the villa, with a large swimming pool. The secluded area has spacious terraces and a barbecue area, a Balinese-style day bed, and a wooden pagoda for outdoor dining. Secluded peace and tranquility are guaranteed. (The Villa also has a private room for solo travellers.)
Two ensuite pods with double bed, kitchenette and jacuzzi have recently been added.
I have stayed here and can certainly recommend the apartments. It must be one of the nicest naturist villas in Fuerteventura. Karie, the owner, lives on site and is very sociable. She organises BBQs and other events for guests.
The villa was recently featured in the Fuerteventura episode of The Canary Islands with Jane McDonald.

TUI Magic Life Hotel – Morro Jable
Surprisingly, this is one of the few hotels with naturist areas in Fuerteventura.
My brother and his family recently stayed at this hotel, and I visited him. I can confirm that it is one of the few fuerteventura hotels with nudist area as one of the swimming pool areas is naturist.
You can book it here or find a better deal as part of a Tui naturist holiday package.
Club Jandia Princess
Club Jandia Princess has a naturist pool area, as a reader recently confirmed. The hotel is right on the beach at Esquinzo.
You can book a complete package here – Club Jandia Princess.
Hotel Riu Palace Tres Islas – Corralejo
Although this is one of the Fuerteventura nudist beach hotels, it is not naturist. It is set in the heart of the Corralejo sand dunes beach, which is naturist-friendly and extends for miles along the beautiful white sandy beach.
The hotel is 4 star and has lovely pools overlooking the sea, a spa with a sauna, several different types of restaurants.

ClubHotel Riu Oliva Beach Resort – All Inclusive
Although there are no naturist hotels in Corralejo Fuerteventura, this is at least right by the naturist beaches.
A large 3* hotel situated a few hundred metres along the beach from the sister hotel above, right on the Corralejo nudist beach at the start of the sand dunes.
There are two swimming pools and a jacuzzi. The rooms are air-conditioned and have satellite TV. Entertainment is provided in the evenings.

Caleta Mar Tao Boutique Hotel – Corralejo
This hotel was the Gran Hotel Natura which was the only Fuerteventura naturist hotel before it was refurbished. Although it is no longer fully naturist, it does have three discreet terraces where naturism can be practiced.
It is located right at the start of Flag Beach and the dunes beaches, which are mostly naturist.
Hopefully this will start a trend for hotels with naturist areas in Fuerteventura.
Click for Complete packages are available to the Caleta Mar
Fuerteventura Naturist Sun Club Infiniti Corralejo
Fuerteventura Naturist Sun Club (Infiniti) is a small complex in Corralejo that is now a dedicated naturist hotel. The complex has four villas and six apartments, all set around a pool and a hot tub. There is also a small bar and a nice shaded seating area.
I was recently invited to look around and confirm that it is a nice, well-maintained complex. The staff were all very friendly so I think anyone would be happy staying there. Fuerteventura Naturist Sun Club website.
Monte Marina Naturist Resort Fuerteventura
Monte Marina Naturist Resort Fuerteventura is located in the south of Fuerteventura, near Esquinzo in Jandia. It is part of the Hotel Marina Playa and the naturist part consists of 47 apartments around a lovely swimming pool.
This overlooks the lovely Esquinzo beach, just a short walk away.
You have access to the main hotel facilities, but these are not naturist. You can find the Monte Marina here.
Cotillo Ocean Sunset Apartments, El Cotillo
A new small development of apartments opposite La Concha beach in El Cotillo is the first of the nudist beaches stretching to the lighthouse. The development offers a selection of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments with beach-facing balconies. It also has a swimming pool and BBQ facilities.

Villaverde Naturist Village – Villa Green Oasis
This will be the only Fuerteventura naturist village when it is completed. It will comprise up to 40 units built this year (2020 – still not built in 2024 sadly) in Villaverde in the north of Fuerteventura. It is a development by the Fuerteventura Naturist Sun Club owner above. I will update this post when it is built and open. There is currently a large 4 bedroom villa on the site which can be rented for naturist holidays. Contact Fuerteventura Naturist Sun Club
There is now a website for this facility which states it will open in April 2023 (now not mentioned on the site at all) – https://www.villagreenoasis.com/home

Tips for First-Time Naturists
- Respect Personal Space
- Give Others Room: Place your towel or beach gear at a reasonable distance (usually at least a few meters) from other sunbathers.
- Mindful Encounters: Most naturists are friendly, but be considerate and polite if you wish to chat. A respectful wave or greeting is usually enough to gauge if someone is open to conversation.
- Embrace the Experience
- Confidence and Comfort: It’s natural to feel nervous the first time you disrobe in public. However, naturist beaches are very accepting environments—everyone is there to relax and enjoy nature.
- Go At Your Own Pace: There’s no rush. You can start by simply going topless or wearing a minimal swimsuit until you feel comfortable. Allow yourself to adjust gradually.
- Beach Etiquette & Behavior
- Family-Friendly Atmosphere: Naturist beaches are not about exhibitionism; they are spaces where all ages enjoy the freedom of naturism. Avoid overtly sexual or disruptive behavior.
- Politeness & Openness: Naturists typically promote body positivity and respect. If you feel self-conscious at first, a friendly smile or small talk can help ease nerves—most beachgoers remember their own first experience and are understanding.
- Photography & Privacy
- No Photos Without Permission: While you may want to capture the stunning coastline, always be cautious with cameras—accidentally including strangers in your photos can be uncomfortable or even seen as intrusive.
- Ask First or Avoid Photos of People Altogether: If you absolutely must take photos, do so when no one else is in view, or politely ask for permission if someone might be in the frame.
- Pack a Cover-Up
- Why You Need It: Although it’s acceptable to be nude on the beach, surrounding areas like walkways, restaurants, or beach bars often require at least some clothing.
- Carry a Light Sarong or T-Shirt: This makes it easy to slip something on if you decide to grab lunch or use nearby facilities.
- Sun Protection is Key
- Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen: Naturists often expose areas of skin unaccustomed to direct sunlight, so frequent reapplication of SPF 30+ or higher is crucial.
- Accessories: Bring a hat or beach umbrella to shield yourself from the sun, especially during peak midday hours when UV rays are strongest.
- Understand the Local Environment
- Wind & Weather: Fuerteventura can be quite windy, especially in certain areas like Corralejo. A windbreak or sheltered spot can make your experience more comfortable.
- Ocean Safety: Check for posted flags or signs indicating strong currents or riptides. If unsure, observe what the locals or lifeguards are doing.
- Keep the Beach Clean
- Leave No Trace: Pack up all trash, leftover food, and personal items. Fuerteventura’s beaches are known for their natural beauty; let’s keep them pristine.
- Use Reef-Safe Products: If you plan on swimming near reefs or rocky areas, opt for environmentally friendly sunscreen to protect marine life.
- Stay Hydrated & Prepared
- Bring Water and Snacks: The sun and wind can dehydrate you quickly, so pack enough water and light snacks to stay comfortable.
- Secure Valuables: Keep valuables hidden or locked in your vehicle. A small waterproof pouch or bag can be handy for items like phones and keys.
Fuerteventura Naturist FAQs
1. Is naturism (nudism) legal in Fuerteventura?
Yes. In Spain, public nudism is legally permitted, and Fuerteventura is well-known for its naturist-friendly culture. However, some beaches have a higher concentration of nude sunbathers than others, so it’s a good idea to confirm local norms or signage before fully disrobing.
2. Which beaches are best for naturists?
Popular naturist-friendly beaches include Corralejo in the north (famous for its vast dunes), El Cotillo on the northwest coast (scenic lagoons and rocky coves), and the extensive stretches of beaches in Jandia in the southeast. These areas are known for their relaxed, welcoming atmospheres and ample space for naturists.
3. Are there any facilities at naturist beaches?
Generally, the naturist beaches will have few or no facilities, so it’s best to bring your own water, snacks, and other necessities.
4. Is nudity mandatory or optional on these beaches?
While these beaches are known to be nudist-friendly, nudity is not mandatory. Most beaches in Fuerteventura are mixed-use, meaning you’ll find both clothed and unclothed visitors. It’s entirely your choice whether you go fully nude or remain partially covered—whatever feels most comfortable.
5. Can families (including children) visit naturist beaches?
Yes. Naturist beaches in Fuerteventura are typically family-friendly, as nudism here is viewed as a natural, non-sexual way to enjoy the sun and sea. However, it’s important to supervise children and maintain respectful behavior toward other beachgoers—just as you would on any public beach.
6. What’s the best way to get to these naturist beaches without a car?
Many popular naturist beaches, such as Corralejo’s dunes, are accessible by public bus (guagua) or organized tours. If you prefer more remote spots like Cofete, you may need to join a guided excursion or rent a 4×4. Check local bus schedules, or consider ride-sharing or taxis for beaches with limited public transport links. A car is best and driving in Fuerteventura is easy.
7. Are there accommodations close to naturist beaches?
Absolutely. In key tourist areas like Corralejo and Morro Jable (near Sotavento), you’ll find hotels, resorts, and vacation rentals within walking distance of naturist-friendly beaches. Some accommodations even cater specifically to naturists, offering private, clothing-optional pool areas. Be sure to check each property’s policies before booking.
